Flood-Damaged Rug Cleaning in the Inland Empire, CA

Details
Completed Dec 2025
Timeframe 2 Weeks
Location Inland Empire, CA

This project came to us after heavy rainfall in the Inland Empire led to indoor flooding, soaking a large area rug that had been part of the home for many years. Although the standing water was removed quickly, the rug absorbed moisture unevenly, leaving behind discoloration, stiffness, and a strong damp odor that worsened over time.
Flood-Damaged Rug Cleaning in the Inland Empire, CA
When the rug arrived, we could see clear signs of water migration—darkened sections, mineral residue, and areas where soil had been pushed deep into the foundation. Floodwater often carries contaminants that settle below the surface, making standard drying or surface cleaning ineffective.
Cleaning and Stabilization Process
We began by flushing out the debris released during flooding, followed by a controlled immersion wash to remove waterborne soil and residue from the rug’s foundation. To address odor and moisture-related issues, the rug received a deep deodorizing treatment before being thoroughly rinsed. Drying was done slowly in a controlled environment to prevent warping, mildew, or further dye movement.
Results
Once complete, the rug was clean, stable, and free of flood-related odor and staining. The homeowner was relieved to see the rug restored rather than replaced.
