San Bernardino Fine Rugs Cleaning
Antique, Chinese, contemporary designer, Navajo, Oriental, Persian, silk, wool — we know the special care that each need. Even woolen horse blanket rugs and tapestries. They should never be steam cleaned, endure bonnet-style dry cleaning, nor put into a rug washing machine. Doing so can cause irreparable damage.
Our Process
The importance of professional rug cleaning goes far beyond appearance. Even with frequent vacuuming dust and other abrasive particles accumulate, and with foot-traffic they cut into fibers causing excessive wear. Our area rug cleaning services remove that along with allergens and odors so your treasures can last for many, many years to come. We’re proud of our 8-step process to clean, rejuvenate, and protect fine rugs.
Pre-inspection. Our detailed inspections identify the type of fiber, pile density, and type of weave to determine the best cleaning procedure. We’ll also test for colorfastness.
Dusting This step is actually more important than washing, removing dust and dirt before it has a chance to clump and adhere during washing. We use a specialized vibrating dusting machine, followed by thorough vacuuming on both sides.
Odor removal takes care of pet, smoke, and mildew odors.
Cleaning by hand using our custom immersion bath and gentle cleansers. To prevent color loss each rug is handled separately. This step also includes stain and spot removal. For some types of fibers, we’ll use by-hand dry cleaning procedures instead. And of course, our washing is wool-safe, preserving and restoring natural oils.
Thorough rinsing using chlorine-free soft water so there’s no mineral build-up nor residues left behind that could lead to fading or discoloration.
Grooming Brushing in the proper direction establishes a uniform pile texture for the best appearance.
Drying Our drying procedures begins flat so there’s no bleeding. We then hang them vertically in our climate-controlled drying room where they stay until accurate moisture measurements say they’re ready.
Post-inspection Another inspection assures that your rug is as clean as possible. We’ll dust and vacuum once again, and repeat steps as necessary.

Allergy treatmentremoves dust, pollen, and pet dander.
Moth and pest treatment for protection. It’s not insects themselves but rather their larvae that feed on fibers. We eliminate insects, eggs, and larvae.
Soil and stain protector to repel harmful liquids, giving you more time to blot dry.
Rug padding prevents shifting, curling, and wrinkling. Cushioning footsteps, it also reduces wear.
Tea washing adds an antique look to fringe or the rug itself. This washes out, so we re-apply it.
Preparation and storage for the short or long term. We’ll inspect, clean, dry, and wrap your rug. It can then be stored at our facility or a location of your choice.
We perform only the most basic of rug repairs ourselves. If yours needs more we can refer you to a repair specialist. Similarly, we don’t make formal appraisals (particularly important for insurance purposes) but can refer you to someone who does.
