Water-Damaged Rug Cleaning and Odor Removal in Orange County, CA

Completed Dec 2025
Timeframe 1 Week
Location Orange County
This project began after heavy rainfall in Orange County caused water intrusion, soaking a large area rug that had been in the home for years. As shown in the photo, prolonged moisture led to severe discoloration, gray water staining, and uneven dye loss across one side of the rug. Although the rug was initially dried at home, water had already carried soil and contaminants deep into the foundation. Within days, the fibers became stiff and a musty odor developed, clear signs that moisture damage and contamination extended far beyond the surface.

Water-Damaged Rug Cleaning in Orange County, CA
When the rug arrived, we inspected the foundation, dyes, and backing to determine how far the water had traveled. Water damage often pushes soil, minerals, and odor-causing bacteria deep into the rug, where surface drying alone can’t resolve the problem. To prevent long-term damage, the rug required full flushing and deodorization.
Cleaning and Odor Removal Process
We began by removing the embedded debris released by the water intrusion, then performed a controlled immersion wash to flush contaminants from the rug’s foundation. To address the lingering odor, we applied a deep deodorizing treatment that neutralizes moisture-related smells at the source. The rug was then carefully rinsed and dried in a controlled environment to prevent mildew or distortion.
Results
Once finished, the rug was clean, stable, and completely odor-free. The homeowner was relieved to save a rug they thought might be beyond repair.
